When done with compassion and intention\, a SAR is an extensive sexuality training and workshop for individuals who support clients in various ways in their work. \nSARs are not only for people in the sexuality field\, they are for all of us! If you work with people in a therapeutic\, healthcare\, educational\, social service\, support\, or adjacent environment\, you need a SAR. When done with an interdisciplinary approach\, a SAR allows each participant the opportunity to examine their own personal beliefs\, understand how those beliefs inform their work and identify areas in which they need to develop more cultural competence. \nThe ANTE UP! SAR is an experience unlike any other SAR or any other professional development experience. Moving beyond common practices and attempts of inclusion and diversity\, the ANTE UP! SAR combines racial justice\, disability justice\, reproductive justice frameworks and practice with tools for self-analysis and embodiment. Participants are welcome to bring their full selves into a learning and an unlearning space. Our intention is to make connections\, be challenged\, expand\, and go all-in for collective and individual liberation and freedom. In other words\, ANTE UP! \nThe world we have inherited is not the same one that we were trained in to do this work. It’s a different world for each of us and there is an urgency to make crucial decisions about the practice we have connected with and caring for other human beings. \nThe ANTE UP! SAR requires each of us to go all in and not half step when doing this work—it is for community members who are ready for a next-level experience of un/learning. We will explore how to identify how -isms may still manifest and unlearning as a lifelong practice. This SAR is a unique space to be honest about our feelings\, where they are held in our bodies\, and how they show up for us. It will help you identify internalized societal norms\, challenge language and stigma\, become more reflexive\, understand your boundaries—as human beings and professionals—and communicate them more effectively. In all the work we do\, we make decisions that have consequences\, and this SAR will allow you to clarify your own path\, grounded in your ethics and values\, and step up to the challenge of facilitating more healing\, resilience\, and autonomy for the communities you serve. \nWhere does my money go? \nWhen you pay for your ticket $525\, 100% of event fee\, goes directly to Bianca and Anne. There is a small fee from Eventbrite to manage ticket sales. This is an event and training that is by and supporting a fat disabled LatiNegra Puerto Rican femme sexologist (Bianca) and an independent sex professional (Anne)! This is economic justice.

SUMMARY:Advanced ANTE UP! SAR: Sex & Drugs
DESCRIPTION:Bianca Laureano\, PhD\, MA\, CSE\, CSES\, and Anne Hodder-Shipp\, CSE\, present this intensive\, two-day training for practicing and emerging professionals especially those working with those in recovery. \nProfessional trainings about sex and substance use are rare\, and those that exist often center clinical or legal perspectives that do not realistically reflect our clients’ varied relationships to drugs and alcohol. This SAR is designed to help clinicians\, educators\, and service professionals investigate their perceptions and biases of the various mind-altering substances present in our communities while expanding their understanding of the roles these substances might play in our clients’ (and our own) lives – especially our sex lives. In this SAR\, we will use a harm-reduction framework to explore ideas\, experiences\, and attitudes about sobriety and recovery; how money\, power\, ableism\, and white supremacy may inform our biases and judgments; and how frameworks like abolition\, disability justice\, liberation could shift and expand our perspectives. \nThis unique professional development training is designed to help attendees identify\, challenge\, and explore their perspectives\, biases\, knowledge gaps\, and judgments about sex and substance use. We use multimedia\, engaging small and large group discussion\, introspective activities\, and interactive exercises to allow participants to examine their feelings and values and process them with compassion. This SAR’s dynamic\, open-minded learning and unlearning space is maintained and supported by Dr. Bianca Laureano and Anne Hodder-Shipp\, two highly experienced group facilitators. \nThis SAR will: \n\n\nExpand ideas\, perspectives\, and attitudes about substance use beyond right/wrong\, good/bad\, legal/illegal\, healthy/unhealthy binaries \n\n\nDiscuss substance use\, sex\, consent\, and pleasure using a harm reduction lens \n\n\nFeature perspectives and experiences that may challenge attendees’ feelings or values \n\n\nEncourage clarity about professional values and limitations\, and when to refer out \n\n\nDiscuss the medicalization of psychedelics for mental health treatment \n\n\nThis SAR will not: \n\n\nTell attendees how to think\, feel\, or talk about substance use\, sex\, and pleasure \n\n\nDiscuss substance use through the lens of addiction\,  abstinence\, or ableism \n\n\nInstruct how to use substances to enhance sex or pleasure\, or how to promote or discourage it with clients \n\n\nAdvocate for substance use \n\n\nAdvocate for sobriety or abstinence \n\n\nThe investment for this professional development training\, a requirement for AASECT certification and maintaining EDSE certification\, is only $395. \nSend your questions to Bianca at AnteUpPd@gmail.com or Anne at anne@everyonedeservessexed.com. \nBianca uses she/her pronouns; Anne uses she/they pronouns. \n***NOTE*** \nAASECT has approved virtual SARs. I also enjoyed the variety in perspectives covered and how this revealed some of the more problematic assumptions that were actually behind some of my previous views on sexuality in relation to substance use. It was full of lovely ‘check yourself and whether you actually believe that’ moments! Thank you!” \n“I really appreciated the accessible environment and the modeling of centering our access needs. I also appreciated the recognition of the social context in which we live as it relates to drugs (i.e.\, War on Drugs\, systemic oppression/racism\, etc.). There was also lots of time given to the conversations\, so we could all share our thoughts.” \n“I really loved this SAR and appreciated all the wisdom brought to the space. I am so grateful that there is a training like this to talk about sex\, sexuality\, and substances. There aren’t any others that I know of!” \n“I (un)learned sooo soooo much and I am deeply grateful for this life changing experience. Thank you both for facilitating such an incredible and intentional container.” \n“I appreciated how Zoom allowed me to take care of my access needs in a way in-person would not. And also that it allowed for a range in perspectives based on the differing geographic locations of participants.” \n“I feel grateful to have access to so many online resources via this SAR\, and to be able to connect with folks from all over. I think the value of having a virtual gathering in this context was really big\, because of the way we got to see a lot of differences in how drug use is treated\, and how sexuality is discussed in people’s communities.” \nFAQs \nAre there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the SAR? \nYes! SUMMARY:Abortion in the US: Realities\, Laws & Healing
DESCRIPTION:Course Description \nNOTE This class is now 5 hours and offers 5 CEs \nThe Overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022 creates even more challenges and criminalization for many pregnant people to find quality care to terminate a pregnancy and those who support them. Image above is of several peacock feathers in browns\, golds\, and blues. \nWhat is a SAR? \nSexual Attitudes Reassessment (SAR) is a very clinical way of describing a professional development experience focused on sexuality topics.
